Phoenix is getting a big, windfall out of its mining boom, but the state has been struggling to balance its books.
The state’s tax revenue has grown from $5.2 billion in 2013 to $15.9 billion in 2016.
The economic recovery has boosted taxes by more than $1 billion since 2010.
But Phoenix’s economic woes are being mirrored across the country.
The federal government says that unemployment in the United States has fallen to 5.9 percent.
And the unemployment rate in Alabama is 3.5 percent, down from 4.9 in March.
